Frequently asked Questions about Kentucky Medical Licensure

There is a $300 fee payable to the Kentucky Board of Medical Examiners, which is submitted with your application.

The Kentucky Medical Board requires the use of the FCVS.
If you have previously established a profile with the FCVS, average processing time for a Kentucky Medical License is between 12-14 weeks.
If you have not previously established a profile with the FCVS, average processing time for a Kentucky Medical License is between 16-20 weeks.
If there are any “Yes” answers to any adverse event questions, the time will be extended while the Board reviews all documentation.

If during the license application process certain documents become older than six months from the date the document was received in our office, that document is considered to be stale and must be resubmitted. Affected documents include the application, verifications of licensure from other licensing jurisdictions, the DEA clearance report, and the FSMB Board Action Data Bank report.

Other than passing an initial licensing exam, and ECFMG if applicable, there is no additional exam required for an Kentucky Medical License.

Kentucky does not offer medical license reciprocity.
